Flyfishing guide in France

Gregory Dolet, fly fishing guide in South West France

Hi, and welcome on my website (note: the English part is still under construction!).

I guide on rivers located in the French Pyrenees, in the South West of France : Gave de Pau, Gave d'Oloron, Gave d'Aspe, Gave d'Ossau and Mauléon (also called Saison). These well known and scenic rivers still hold a few atlantic salmon, but I am specialized in fly fishing for brown trout. They grow to interesting size, and are caught on dry fly or nymph, with sight fishing often possible.

These rivers are torrentuous in the headwaters, where steep gradients make for interesting pocket water fishing for lively brownies. In the middle and lower reaches the flow is more steady and the fish are fewer, but larger. All the fly fishing techniques can be successful in this diverse and pristine environment, from high sticking in the rapids to sight fishing/hunting for indiviudal brown trout rising close to the banks of the bigger rivers.

The area is also very interesting for the non anglers: the world famous "Pays Basque", Biarritz, the nice beaches of the Landes, golf courses, surfing ... plenty of outdoor activities are all readily available less than one hour away from the fishing spots.

I hope you will find here useful information to organize a successful fly fishing trip in the French Pyrenees. Do not hesitate to contact me for further informations and bookings.

Adischatz !
